Before Mike was named Executive Director of IPMA, he was the Production Marketing Manager for Higher Education and the In-Plant Specialist for Ricoh US, Inc. Mike worked with Ricoh from 2007 until 2016, and helped develop business strategies and programs for the public sector, higher education and in-plants.
Previously, Mike served as the Director of Procurement Auxiliary Services at Louisiana State University. He has more than 35 years’ experience in the newspaper and printing professions. Mike worked for LSU for 18 years, 13 of those as Director. He directed several auxiliary enterprises at the University including Printing Services, the Copy Center, Copier Management, Design Services, Mailing Services and University Stores.
Mike received his Bachelor of Arts in journalism from LSU in 1978 and earned his Masters of Public Administration in higher education administration from LSU in 1998. Mike is past president of IPMA and was named Manager of the Year by In-Plant Graphics magazine. Mike is also past president of a higher education in-plant association. He has been a member of IPMA for many years, having served as International President-Elect, International Secretary-Treasurer, and in several office capacities of the Louisiana Bayou Chapter. Mike has served as a consultant to many colleges and universities and was on the editorial advisory boards of two industry journals. He has spoken at numerous regional, national and international conferences.
In his spare time, Mike is an avid tennis player, along with participating in Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournaments when the opportunity arises. He is the father of two sons, Jeffrey (31) and Andrew (29). He is passionate about college sports, especially the LSU Tigers.. Geaux Tigers! Since relocating to Kansas City, MO, in November 2017, Mike is going through food withdrawals without his Louisiana cuisine readily available, but the KC barbecue is as good as advertised!
