IPMA Awards 2025

Get national recognition, build customer confidence, and boost staff morale with an IPMA Award.

IPMA Award categories include: In-plant of the Year, Innovation Award, In-House Promotional Excellence Award.

2024 IPMA Award Winners

Winners were recognized at the IPMA Awards Banquet during the IPMA 2024 Educational Conference in June, 2024.

In-plant of the Year — American Academy of Family Physicians

Purpose: Recognizes an entire in-plant business for outstanding performance. Whether the in-plant is a combination of print and mail, print only or mail only, all members are eligible. While contributions of individual managers are important, this award judges and recognizes the efforts of the entire in-house staff.

The American Academy of Family Physicians’ Digital Center experienced unprecedented changes culminating in an epic battle to challenge outsourcing assumptions and prove the value and expertise of keeping the Academy’s in-plant facility with a three-year savings of $1.2 million. Being recognized by industry peers and IPMA for In-Plant of the Year would be he crowning achievement on a difficult year.

“It is humbling to be recognized by IPMA and its strong community of in-house experts who are intimately familiar with the rewards and challenges of working in an in-plant. The In-plant of the Year award recognizes our team’s perseverance and efforts during a difficult year. AAFP has hired amazing people with expertise in many fields and we’re all working for the same mission. The same goal. The same members. This award shows AAFP can leverage our individual strengths, work together, share our knowledge, and clarify assumptions.”

Innovation Award — CHRISTUS Health

Purpose: Recognizes an organization that has shown creative and innovative ways to improve a process or business model. Innovation may be technology, customer or process-driven.

CHRISTUS Print Services embarked on a three year strategy to bring technology and equipment together and revolutionize our throughput. As an in-plant, we grew based on need with equipment and adding staff as needed. However, over time we increased capacity but fell short on turn times, quality, and waste. This presentation is an overview of our vision, discovery, the solutions we implemented with better-than-expected results, and a promising future to continue to serve our parent organization.

“The entire CHRISTUS Print Services team is honored by the recognition of the work we do. We are driven by our mission, remaining customer focused to meet the expectations and needs of the patients we serve. Initially promoting ourselves internally seemed odd. However, engaging our customers, opening our shop, leveraging what we’ve learned from our peers within IPMA has helped increase our volumes, bring more awareness of our offerings to organization, improve quality and cemented our value to our parent organization for years to come. ”

Operations Manager, Print Services CHRISTUS Health

In-house Promotional Excellence— University of Texas at Austin

Purpose: Recognizes excellence in promotional vehicles and/or campaigns developed by and used to promote an organizations in-house printing or mailing facility.

While Document Solutions uses many of the typical marketing methods, such as print, vehicle wraps, direct mail, and our web pages, we are excited about how we have transformed our Showcase event. When we moved our production facility six miles off campus, we developed a Showcase event intended to project an on-campus presence. Coming out of the pandemic, we transformed our Document Solutions showcase into a UT First Showcase drawing hundreds of potential customers to a three-hour event. Held each semester, this event is intended to support a variety of service units that include but is not limited to, University Police, Parking, Travel, AT&T Conference Center, Construction Services, Surplus, Recreational Sports, and Child Care. The business strategy behind UT First is to keep departmental monies on campus!

“The Document Solutions Team embraces our role supporting our community by participating in campus events, providing excellence in service, embracing new technologies and developing best practices. Our breath of services is vast; offset, digital, wide format, promotional, campus mail, production mail, shredding, courier, central receiving, retail centers, on-line merchandise, shipping, fulfillment, and most importantly having fun. What Starts here Changes the World. The University of Texas at Austin and Document Solutions team is honored to receive the IPMA In-House Promotional Excellence award! Thinking Strategically, Acting Decisively, Championing our Organization and Leading Intentional Change is our mission and culture. Campus collaboration, and administrative support provides us the opportunity to accomplish amazing things for our community. We are tremendously appreciative of this recognition and proud to be a part of the In-Plant community. We are humbled by the commitment and the achievements of the distinguished in-plants that have been honored with this award.”
